On Site Webcasting or Video Recording?

What's the difference between video recording an event and on-site webcasting?  There are many differences, and we want to make sure you understand the positives and negatives of each.

For one thing, almost anyone with a camera can record a video that captures an event.  And, we know from places like YouTube and related internet sites, that the camera does not need to be very sophisticated.  Video recording technology and camera equipment are nearly ubiquitous today.  You can record an event with your cell phone, with a digital camera, with a camera-pen and so on.

Video recording can be useful and productive for yourself, your close friends and maybe even a few people on the web.  And, we all know what can happen when an event is recorded in video that we didn't really want to share.

So, what's the deal with onsite webcasting, or live webcasting?  And, how can it help.  Well, for one thing you can plan and control what parts of the event get recorded.  You can also plan how the videos and recordings are distributed and used.

From the business side, that means you can potentially reach more people through webcasting.  Basically, you (or a professional team) records the event as it happens and you then post that recording online.  Anyone that was unable to attend the actual event can potentially view or see the event "as if" they were there.

Which brings up another point... with onsite webcasting and live video feeds, you can also control who gets to see the event.  So, you can recruit a target audience that you want to educate about a particular topic, share information with, or give an opportunity to participate.

Live or on-site webcasting then becomes a way to plan ahead and share content with anyone that cannot attend in person.  That's different -- purpose and outcomes -- from simple video recording.

More on this same subject in our next post.  There is much more detail to share, and we want to make sure you have all the details.

For now, though, you can go to this site and sign up for a free consultation -- to see if you need onsite webcasting or just video recording.
